#CarseatFullstop – Putting your childs safety first!

#CarSeatFullStop

I am very proud to be a part of the #CarseatFullstop campaign! It is such an important project to create awareness of the extreme danger of not having your children strapped properly into an age appropriate car seat. So Please Please take the time to Read and share this post and spread the word! You could save a child’s life by just sharing the facts! Every parent that we reach and convince to strap their kids in EVERY TIME, could possibly be a life saved!

Scary car seat facts I bet you did not know!

  1. A seat belt is designed for an adult male of over 1.5m tall, for those smaller than that, the seat belt becomes an additional danger unless supported appropriately
  2. Car seats reduce the risk of death in passenger cars by 71 % for infants and 54 % for toddlers
  3. Currently only 15% of South African children in cars are restrained; that is 85% of children who are not.

My Thoughts on Car Seat Safety

I am not a perfect parent so I am not here to judge other parents for not strapping their kids in, this is more to create the correct awareness that will make you see just how dangerous it is not to be strapped in so hopefully you make the habit of doing it every time. I myself have driven with Zoe just with a seat belt over her and no car seat, those afternoons I quickly fetch her from school but the one car seat we have is in my husbands bakkie so I just use the seat belt for her because we literally live around the corner from school and what is the harm right?

WELL the truth is there is a large amount of harm in it! Ja sure I have been lucky in my quickly zipping around with Zoe not in her car seat , but what if I was the unlucky one to be in an accident and have her be killed or disabled?! My child dead or disabled because I couldn’t bother to take the extra time to arrange that I had the car seat that day. How life altering would that be, This beautiful soul taken from us because her parents couldn’t be responsible enough to put her safety first. Imagine the regret you would have to live with, would you be able to live with it? I doubt I would. I have already learnt so much from the facts shared in this campaign and realized my own mistakes!

Child car safety statistics

There are a few different parent groups that awareness needs to be brought to , there are the parents that most definitely can afford the car seats but just do not bother to use them. Then there are the parents that know about car seats but actually just do not have the money to afford one, Like really just are struggling and do not have money. Then there is the part of our country that are not even aware of car seats and what they are used for and the importance of it.

This campaign will hopefully reach all of these with YOUR HELP!!!! Get involved by following along on social media and sharing all the blog posts and posts you see with the facts of the campaign.  Tell your friends about it and help spread the word!!
