Romantic Botlierskop getaway with Afristay

We got the opportunity to spend a romantic night away thanks to Afristay and we chose to spend it at the beautiful Botlierskop Game Reserve situated in Little Brak river, not far out of George.

Booking our Accommodation through the Afristay website was a breeze and I was able to search for places in the area that I wanted and also easily check availability for the dates that we wanted instead of having to go to loads of different sites to check availability. It was easy to Book and pay for and they even gave me a phone call to find out if I was happy with everything or if I needed help with anything further. I will definitely use the Afristay site again to book for our next night away.

We try to spend at least one romantic night away from the kids every year, and it really helps so so much to just bond as husband and wife and take a minute to breath. Life can be really hectic with work and kids and we do forget to take time for ourselves. We have tried a few local spots around the Garden Route for our nights away so that we are close enough to home if there were to be an emergency with the kids but at the same time we feel like we are getting away.

Botlierskop has been by far the BEST place we have stayed at so far, I was beyond impressed with the whole setup and friendly helpful service from all the staff. I get bad anxiety for new places and the staff were so friendly that it really made me feel at home and relaxed. For the rates that we paid , we definitely got our moneys worth with all the added extra touches and luxury. Have a look at my photo diary below to see how truly amazing our stay was, I think the pictures will speak for themselves.

When we arrived we were greeted by incredibly friendly staff that helped us with our bags and showed us around the main building, they gave us a lovely little tour of the facilities and made us comfortable by the fireplace with a welcome drink and snacks while we signed in.

After we were done at the main building we were driven to our luxury tented accommodation, it’s a beautiful setting with buck grazing and we had fun spotting different animals. The staff made sure we were comfortable and settled and had everything we needed. The tented accommodation is gorgeous with such attention to detail, a wonderful mini bar, a fully stocked coffee station and a bathroom to die for that includes an outside shower!! The bed and bedding were so fluffy and comfortable that I thought I had died and gone to heaven, there was even an electric blanket that had pre warmed the bed for us. I was of course mainly focusing on the bed and the fabulous bath I couldn’t wait to get into but my husband enjoyed the views and the complimentary sherry.

We decided to have dinner at the restaurant and the staff fetched us from our tent and escorted us to the main building. Dinner was amazing! A choice of starters served with bread, soup and a palate cleanser before a buffet for main that was one of the best I had ever seen! I’m guilty of not taking a photo of my desert and I’m so sorry I didn’t because it was amazing! A apple crumble cheese cake that I am thinking about to this day (blame the pregnancy cravings 😂)

Everything about Botlierskop was luxurious and perfect, it was wonderful waking up in the middle of nature and seeing all the animals with the spectacular views, we enjoyed the breakfast at the restaurant the next morning before heading home. I had a coffee on the outside deck while we watched the buck graze by the water, I will definitely go back there if I get the opportunity to, it was truly spectacular! I would love to do the game drive next time and explore the spa facilities.
